Dear {university admissions office}:
I am so excited to have been accepted into {University Name}. It has long been a dream of mine to be a {university mascot or nickname}.
I noticed my acceptance letter stated that my acceptance is “conditional upon maintaining the same high level of academic excellence” during my senior year of high school. I spoke this week with my school counselor, who said I should reach out to you now.
During the {fall/spring} semester of my senior year, I {went down a full grade point/dropped core classes/got Ds and Fs/etc.}. I’m deeply disappointed that this happened, but I would like to add some context.
I was experiencing personal hardship due to {illness/pandemic/family crisis/academic disruption/etc.}. I’m proud that I was able to work through it and am now on track to graduate with {more impressive status}.
It is my hope that this uncharacteristic dip in my performance will not result in my admission being revoked. I am committed to bringing my best personal and academic self to {University Name}.
Thank you for your consideration. Please let me know if you need any additional information. If you’d like to speak with my counselor, {Name} can be reached at {contact}.
Sincerely,
{Name}
